Step-by-step guide on how to use a silicone mold with polymer clay:

  1. Gather your materials: You will need polymer clay, a silicone mold, a work surface, and optional tools like a rolling pin, craft knife, and baking sheet.

  2. Prepare your work surface: Clean and smooth the work surface to prevent any debris from sticking to your clay. You can use a smooth countertop, a ceramic tile, or a sheet of glass.

  3. Condition your polymer clay: Polymer clay can be quite firm out of the package, so it's important to soften and condition it before use. Knead the clay in your hands or use a clay conditioning machine until it becomes soft, pliable, and easy to work with.

  4. Dust the mold with cornstarch or talcum powder: Lightly dust the inside of the silicone mold with a small amount of cornstarch or talcum powder. This will help prevent the clay from sticking to the mold and make it easier to remove the clay later.

  5. Press the clay into the mold: Take a small piece of conditioned clay and press it firmly into the mold, making sure to fill all the intricate details. Use your fingers or a small tool to press the clay evenly into the mold and remove any air bubbles.

  6. Remove excess clay: Once the mold is filled, use a craft knife or a flat-edged tool to scrape off the excess clay from the top of the mold. This will ensure that the clay is flush with the surface of the mold and create a clean edge.

  7. Demold the clay: Carefully flex or bend the silicone mold to release the clay. You can also gently push the clay out from the back of the mold. Take your time and be patient to avoid distorting or damaging the clay.

  8. Clean up and refine the clay: Use your fingers, a soft brush, or small tools to clean up any rough edges or imperfections on the clay piece. Smooth out any uneven surfaces or lines to achieve the desired finish.

  9. Bake the clay: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for baking the polymer clay. Typically, polymer clay is baked in a preheated oven at a specific temperature and for a specific duration. Place the clay on a baking sheet or a ceramic tile and bake it according to the instructions.

  10. Let it cool and finish: Once the clay has been baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely. After cooling, you can further refine and finish the piece by sanding, painting, varnishing, or adding any desired embellishments.

Remember to always follow the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer for both the polymer clay and the silicone mold you are using, as baking temperatures and times may vary depending on the brand.

I’m loving this little daisy mold! I especially like how some of the petals actually stand out to give a 3-D appearance to the flower. I will have fun experimenting with colors and sizes. So glad I ordered it. Great product! Thank you!
